Position Overview: Property Lite Risk Professional / Consultant

About the Role: Risk Logic is currently seeking motivated professionals to join our Property Lite (PL) inspection team. This role is ideal for building inspectors or fire service professionals (active or retired) looking for a flexible, per-job opportunity. As a PL Consultant, you will conduct site inspections at small-to-mid-sized commercial properties, evaluating fire safety and building characteristics to help insurance carriers manage risk.

Our PL program is designed to provide concise, cost-effective, and accurate insurance surveys. You will operate independently, manage your own schedule, and utilize our standardized templates to deliver high-quality reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Inspections: Travel to various commercial properties and constructions sites to collect and evaluate Construction, Occupancy, Protection and Exposure (COPE) details, and potential loss exposures.
  • Fire Protection and Alarm Systems: Visually inspect automatic fire protection and fire alarm systems to confirm they are active and are being properly inspected, tested and maintained.
  • Documentation: Capture clear, representative photos of the property construction features, fire protection equipment and other important characteristics for inclusion in reports.
  • Report Writing: Complete comprehensive risk analysis reports from your home office using Risk Logic’s standardized templates and digital formats.
  • Professional Communication: Maintain open and professional communication with facility contacts, clients, and Risk Logic internal staff.
  • Time Management: Independently manage your assignment pipeline, ensuring all inspections are scheduled and reports are submitted within agreed-upon timelines.

Required Qualifications & Requirements

  • Expertise: Background as a Building Inspector and/or active/retired Fire Service professional (Fire Marshal, Fire Inspector, etc.).
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with NFPA standards and a functional understanding of automatic fire protection and alarm systems.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to summarize technical findings in a concise report.
  • Self-Motivation: A "self-starter" mentality with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines without direct supervision.
  • Mobility: Valid driver’s license and willing to travel using own vehicle to survey territorial locations.
  • Equipment: Access to a computer with high-speed internet and a reliable means of transportation.
  • Certifications: No specific insurance certifications are required—we value your practical field experience!

Contractor Details

  • Engagement as an independent contractor.
  • You would be required to create an LLC in your home state. RLI will reimburse you for the 1st year LLC fees after a completing successful trial period.
  • RLI provides professional liability and E&O Insurance.
  • Home-based position with travel to client sites as required.
  • You can accept/decline any job presented.
  • Flexible scheduling with assignments based on geographic territory.
  • You can decide how far from home you would like to travel for a site visit (i.e., within a 1-3 hour driving radius, overnight stays, air travel).
