Loss Control Consultant — Independent Contractor
Overview
National Risk Services Division of Preferred Reports is seeking experienced Residential and Commercial Lines Loss Control Consultants to become approved vendors. In this independent-contractor role, you will conduct insurance loss control inspections and consultative visits within your coverage area.
Appointments are arranged at the convenience of both the inspector and the property contact. Orders are managed through a cloud-based system, and completed reports are submitted online. This contract-based work is paid per inspection at a pre-established fee. Vendors work independently and are paid weekly upon satisfactory completion of orders.

Responsibilities
Provide accurate, timely, and professional inspection services, including:

Schedule site inspection appointments with insureds or agents by email and/or phone.

Travel to and conduct physical inspections of residential and commercial properties as required by the carrier.

Conduct interviews with management or other property contacts as required.

Survey premises, record on-site observations, and identify and document hazards and controls.

Capture clear digital photographs, including basic property photos and images of potential hazards.

Measure buildings and exteriors, calculate square footage, and prepare diagrams or building sketches.

Prepare detailed, accurate reports and upload reports and photos through the cloud-based system by the specified deadline.

Follow client-specific guidelines and communicate as needed with Preferred Reports, agents, insureds, and policyholders.

Deliver high-quality professional services while meeting order deadlines.
Qualifications

At least three years of experience conducting property and/or casualty lines insurance loss control surveys and reports.

Experience in construction or home improvement, inspections, real estate, or architecture is preferred.

Self-starter who can work quickly and efficiently to meet order deadlines.

Detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to manage your own schedule.

Proficient with Microsoft products; basic computer literacy and data-entry skills are helpful.

Bilingual ability is a plus.

PC, laptop, or tablet running a currently supported Windows platform: Windows 10 or 11 in full mode, not S mode, with at least 8GB of RAM.

Android phone or iPhone, recommended, or a digital camera.

Scanner, cell phone, and other equipment needed to complete inspections.

Reliable vehicle suitable for covering the required territory.

Measuring wheel or similar measuring device.

Compensation & Assignment Expectations
